American actress and filmmaker Clea DuVall was BOTD in 1977. Born in Los Angeles, California, she attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and began acting in TV and film in her teens. She rose to prominence in the 1990s with roles in the lesbian-adjacent drama Girl, Interrupted with Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie and the lesbian-themed comedy But I’m a Cheerleader, graduating to more significant roles in the 2000s with 21 Grams, Zodiac and Argo. She has also worked extensively in television, starring in the drama series Carnivàle, American Horror Story: Asylum, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Better Call Saul, Veep and The Handmaid’s Tale. In 2016, she wrote, directed and co-starred in the LGBTQ-themed comedy The Intervention, coming out as a lesbian in the same year. Her next film Happiest Season, which she co-wrote and directed, was a semi-autobiographical comedy about a lesbian coming out to her family during Christmas dinner. DuVall has been in relationships with Ellen (now Elliot) Page, Camila Grey, Summer Phoenix and James DeBello. She is married to model and producer Mia Weier.
