American actor Ben Platt was BOTD in 1993. Born in Los Angeles, California, he appeared as a child actor in professional productions of The Sound of Music, The Music Man and Les Miserables, graduating into adult roles in the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, the 2012 musical comedy film Pitch Perfect and its many sequels. In 2016, he played the title role in the Broadway production of Dear Evan Hansen, winning Tony and Grammy awards for the role, and also starred in the poorly reviewed 2021 film adaptation. Platt has released three studio albums and a concert film, and starred in the Netflix comedy The Politician. He came out as gay in 2019, and married his long-term boyfriend, the actor Noah Galvin, in 2024.
