Canadian musicians Tegan and Sara Quin, better known as Tegan & Sara, were BOTD in 1980. Born identical twins, they were raised in Calgary and began playing guitar and writing songs in their teens, releasing their debut album in 1999. Their 2004 album So Jealous became an international bestseller, spawning the hit single Walking With a Ghost. In 2012, they earned their first Grammy nomination for their live album Get Along. Following the election of President Trump in 2016, they co-founded the Tegan and Sara Foundation to fight for economic justice, health and representation for LGBTQ girls and women, donating profits from their albums to the foundation. They appeared as themselves in cult lesbian TV series The L Word. In 2019, they published a joint memoir High School, starring in a TV film adaptation directed by Clea DuVall. Both openly gay forever, Sara married her longtime partner Stacy Reader, with whom she has a son. Tegan married her partner Sofia Snow in 2018. They currently live in Vancouver.
