Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina to actor parents, she performed in theatre as a child, moving to Los Angeles when she was ten to pursue a showbiz career. After a recurring in TV Once and Again where she played a teenaged lesbian, her breakout role came in 2003 with Thirteen, playing a teenager who embraces hard drugs, sex and petty crime. She turned heads as omnisexual vampire queen Sophie Anne in Alan Ball‘s TV series True Blood, a sociopath opera singer in Todd Haynes’ remake of Mildred Pierce and as a sentient robot in the sci-fi drama series Westworld. Wood had a high-profile three year relationship with musician Marilyn Manson, whom she later accused of psychological and sexual abuse. She was married briefly to actor Jamie Bell, with whom she has a son. She identifies as bisexual, and had a brief relationship in 2014 with actress Katherine Moennig. Her current relationship status is unknown.
