American actress Michelle Rodriguez was BOTD in 1978. Born in San Antonio, Texas to a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father, she was raised in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, moving to New Jersey when she was 17. After being expelled from a series of high schools, she pursued a career in acting. She made a stunning film debut as a young female boxer in 2000’s Girlfight, winning the Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance. She became a regular in the Fast and the Furious, Machete and Resident Evil franchises, and starred in cult TV series Lost. Her other film work includes Avatar and Widows.
