American model and actress Jenny Shimizu was BOTD in 1967. Born in San Jose, California, she was raised in Santa Maria. While working as a mechanic when she was approached to model for Calvin Klein’s CK1 fragrance campaign. She became one of the first Asian-Americans to model for a major fashion label, noted for her androgynous features, butch-dyke aesthetic and openly declared lesbianism. In 1996, she co-starred in the lesbian-themed film Foxfire alongside Angelina Jolie, with whom she had a well-publicised relationship. Like most celebrity lesbians in the 1990s, she also had a brief affair with Madonna. In 2005, she began a relationship with model Rebecca Loos, after appearing together in a staged wedding ceremony as part of a TV documentary about gay marriage. She married her partner Michelle Harper in 2014.
