American actor Jim Parsons was BOTD in 1973. Born in Houston, Texas, he studied theatre in Houston and at the University of San Diego. He moved to New York, working in off-Broadway theatre, and had a recurring role in television series Judging Amy and Ed. He is best known for appearing in TV sitcom The Big Bang Theory. His role as socially awkward physicist Sheldon Cooper won him four Emmys and a Golden Globe Award, earning him comparisons with Buster Keaton. He made his Broadway debut in the 2011 revival of Larry Kramer’s AIDS-themed play The Normal Heart, repeating the role in Ryan Murphy’s 2014 TV film adaptation. In 2018, he starred in the Broadway revival of Mart Crowley’s play The Boys in the Band, in a role originated by his birthday twin Kenneth Nelson, reprising the role for Murphy’s 2020 TV film. Named by Forbes magazine as the world’s highest paid television actor, he played predatory gay talent agent Henry Willson in Murphy’s TV series Hollywood and also appeared in the film Hidden Figures. He married his long-term boyfriend Todd Spiewak in 2017, with whom he lives in New York.
