Canadian actor Victor Garber was BOTD in 1949. Born in Toronto, he studied theatre at the University of Toronto. He made his professional acting debut in 1972 as Jesus in a now-legendary production of Godspell, alongside Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Gilda Radner, Paul Shaffer and Martin Short, later appearing in the 1973 film version. A regular on Broadway for over 40 years, his credits include Deathtrap, Sweeney Todd, Noises Off, Lend Me a Tenor, Arcadia, Assassins, Damn Yankees, Art and Hello Dolly, earning four Tony nominations. His film appearances include Sleepless in Seattle, The First Wives Club, Titanic, Legally Blonde and Argo. He portrayed San Francisco mayor in Gus Van Sant’s 2007 Harvey Milk biopic Milk. He is best known for his recurring role in television sci-fi series Alias and cameo appearances in Frasier, Will and Grace and Schitt’s Creek. He came out as gay in a press interview in 2012, and married his long-term partner Rainer Andreesen in 2015.
