American comedian Kate McKinnon was BOTD in 1984. Born in Long Island, New York, she studied theatre at Columbia University alongside future actor-director Greta Gerwig. In 2007, McKinnon joined the cast of The Big Gay Sketch Show on cable television and performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York. She joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2012, becoming well-known for her impressions of Hillary Clinton, Rudi Giuliani, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Kristen Stewart and Justin Bieber. Her film work includes the 2016 all-female reboot of comedy Ghostbusters, and a vivid cameo as Weird Barbie in Gerwig’s 2023 mega-hit Barbie. Openly gay since forever, McKinnon is in a relationship with comedian Jackie Abbott.
